Simpex Express Limited is pleased to announce the acquisition of Samphire Cargo Limited, a customs clearance specialist based in Dover.

Managing Director of Simpex, Simon Beechener commented “Samphire have been our customs agent for over 9 years now, supporting our express activities outside of the EU which have grown every year. Their customs knowledge and associated services are second to none with both teams having built strong relationships with each other during this time.

“When the opportunity arose for Samphire to join us, it was a no-brainer. The partnership offers Simpex guaranteed customs capacity post-Brexit and they already maintain many of the same values in the way the business is run.

“We’re not looking to make any sweeping changes, but rather to embrace the positive reputation Samphire has and to build on it.”

With several investments planned during the first 12 months, including upgrading IT infrastructure and a new website, the business is set to capitalise on its location and service-offering.

Samphire’s previous owners, Gary and Paul will be leaving the business in the coming months with incoming MD Gary Smith-Watson having already taken the reins locally to lead the transition and future growth.

On the new role and opportunity, Gary Smith-Watson commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Samphire at such a significant moment in its history. The whole team are extremely welcoming of the fact it was Simpex that stepped forward and we’re all excited by the opportunities this will bring.
